The 'fiance(e)' visa: enter Australia to marry your intended Australian partner, then apply for a partner visa.

People outside Australia who are engaged to an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen and intend to marry within the visa period.
Eligibility requirements
- Genuine intention to marry the sponsoring partner within the visa validity period.
- Both parties must be 18 or older.
- Have met in person as adults and be known to each other (face-to-face).
- Applicant outside Australia when the visa is lodged and granted.
- Approved fiance(e) sponsor (Australian citizen, PR or eligible NZ citizen).
- Meet health and character requirements.

Recent changes & caveats
Once married you lodge an onshore partner (820/801) application and receive a reduced second charge. Work rights are granted on the 300. Confirm the current processing estimate on the Home Affairs page, as it varies widely.
