Home Care Worker Immigration Pilots

PR on arrival for caregivers - the replacement for the old caregiver pilots.

Official Canada page

Who this route is for

Home child-care providers and home-support workers, in two pilots (Child Care and Home Support), each with a 'Workers in Canada' and an 'Applicants not working in Canada' stream.

Eligibility requirements

  • Language CLB/NCLC 4 or higher in English or French
  • Education equal to a Canadian high-school diploma (or higher), confirmed by an ECA for foreign credentials
  • At least 6 months of recent, relevant work experience OR a related caregiver training credential
  • A full-time job offer in home care (no LMIA required from the employer), in the eligible occupation
  • Meet admissibility (medical, security, criminality) - applicants receive PR on arrival rather than after Canadian work experience

Requirements reviewed June 2026. They change frequently — confirm the current rules on the official page before relying on them.

Recent changes & caveats

These replaced the Home Child Care Provider Pilot and Home Support Worker Pilot (closed June 2024). IRCC paused new intake as demand outstripped spaces and did not reopen them in March 2026 as originally planned.
