Parent Boost Visitor Visa
Long-stay multi-entry visitor visa letting parents stay up to 5 years (renewable to 10).

Parents of an adult NZ citizen or resident who want an extended, renewable visitor stay without seeking residence.
Eligibility requirements
- Be sponsored by an adult child (18+) who is a NZ citizen or resident living in NZ at least 184 days a year
- Sponsor must meet a median-wage-indexed income threshold (NZD $72,800/year for one parent, NZD $109,200 for two parents, single sponsor, from 30 April 2026), met for 2 of the past 3 tax years
- The parent must meet a funds or income test (e.g. about NZD $170,000 funds, or NZD $260,000 for a couple)
- Hold qualifying health insurance for the whole stay (emergency cover at least NZD $250,000/year) and meet health and character requirements

Recent changes & caveats
Opened in 2025 as a distinct visa from the standard Visitor Visa. Joint sponsors must earn more (about 1.5x the median wage, ~NZD $104,707 for one parent). Not a residence pathway.
